Curator narration for this scene.
Villa Cavrois at Croix is a modernist mansion of yellow brick, designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens and built between 1929 and 1932 for the textile industrialist Paul Cavrois and his family. Clean volumes, flat roofs and great windows reimagine the traditional château for modern life, with comforts that were advanced for their time. Before the main facade a long reflecting pool, some seventy-two metres in length, mirrors the house across the garden.
