About this artwork
Only the west wing survives of the great quadrangle that Galiot de Genouillac raised at Assier in the Lot, but that wing is a manifesto of the French Renaissance. Its pedimented gateway, built like a triumphal arch, once held an equestrian statue of Galiot in a niche, and broad friezes carved with cannons, swords and the labours of Hercules cover the courtyard front. The rest of the château was sold to demolition contractors in 1768. Low walls and ruined towers still trace the vanished plan.
Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
