Curator narration for this scene.
At La Romieu in the Gers, the towers of the collegiate church of Saint-Pierre rise over a small pilgrim village on the road to Compostela. Cardinal Arnaud d'Aux, a native of the village, began the church in 1312, raising two great facade towers and an octagonal tower beside them, with a cloister for his canons. Stone cats carved on the village houses recall the legend of Angéline, the girl whose hidden cats saved La Romieu from a plague of rats.
