About this artwork
La Garde-Guérin stands on a plateau in the Lozère above the gorges of the Chassezac, a fortified hamlet of stone houses gathered inside medieval ramparts. At its centre rises a tall square tower, some twenty-one metres high, the keep of the vanished castle. In the twelfth century the Bishop of Mende set a garrison of knight-pariers here to guard travellers on the Régordane way, the great route between the Auvergne and the Mediterranean.
Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
