Curator narration for this scene.
On a rocky promontory over the Gironde estuary, the church of Sainte-Radegonde stands at the very edge of Talmont-sur-Gironde, its Romanesque apse and square bell tower above the water. Benedictines of Saint-Jean-d'Angély built the church in the twelfth century, and the village below was laid out as a bastide for Edward I of England in 1284. White houses and narrow lanes fill the grid of streets between the church rock and the little port.
Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
