About this artwork

The ducal château of Cadillac-sur-Garonne dominates its bastide town above the river: a long, symmetrical corps de logis fronting an entrance court where two monumental wings and four corner pavilions once stood, dismantled in the eighteenth century and sold for stone. Jean-Louis de Nogaret de La Valette, first Duke of Épernon and favourite of Henri III, began the palace in 1599 as a seat worthy of his power. Its interiors keep monumental marble fireplaces, painted ceilings and a celebrated collection of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century tapestries. From 1818 to 1952 the palace served as a women's prison.

Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
